Hi all,
I'm experiencing a strange problem when I try to install any kind of tv tuner on my computer. The problem is that whenever a TV tuner card is installing drivers etc, I get the error "remote procedure call failed". I couldn't figure out before at what point it happened exactly (I got the error first when trying the MSI TV@nywhere card), but when I was installing my recently purchased Hauppauge WinTV-PVR250 I noticed it happens when the setup program tries to install a software MPEG decoder.
Of course, because of this, the TV tuner card doesn't give any output on screen, because it has no way of decoding the incoming signal.
Has anyone had a problem like this before? And more importantly, has anyone managed to fix it?
The (video) hardware in my computer is:
- MSI GeForce4 TI 4200 (w/ overclocked memory/core) 128MB
- ATI Radeon 7000 PCI (for secondary monitor support)
- Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250 PCI
The machine is running Windows XP Pro with SP1 installed.
I've had a TV tuner running on this machine before, however it was on Windows 2000 Server and the card was the nVidia Personal Cinema.
Also, the GeForce4 card isn't one of the tv in/out versions (just has 1 VGA out, 1 DVI out, and 1 S-Video out), however, during installation of that card, WinXP finds TV tuner hardware etc in that card too. I don't quite know what's up with that.
Any help would be very much appreciated!!
