Divx avi file is progressively out of sync

I downloaded a movie in Divx avi format, and when I play it, audio starts about 1 sec out of sync (which I think it's not that hard to fix) but goes out of sync by 10-25 sec by the end of the movie. What can I do to fix it. I have P4 2.4Ghz, SB Audigy etc... Let me know if u need any more info about the file (and how to get that info :)

Interleaving wasn't set on during multiplexing.

In Doom9's Virtual Dub Procedures Guide (http://www.doom9.org/virtualdub_procedures.htm), about a third of the way down, under step 3, is a section on fixing progressively asynch audio by changing the video frame rate. You should use Nandub for this, though.
