I want to convert a SVCD file to a Divx 3.11 low-motion file with Virtual Dub but i get this error when doing so:
MPEG Import Filter: pack synchronization error
It wroks with other MPEGs, probably VCD and not SVCD.
Anyone got any suggestions on how to load it up and convert it to DIVX?

VirtualDub can't read mpeg2 files.
Use AviSynth. In the AviSynth FAQ you can read how to import mpeg2 in AviSynth. Note that you need to demux the audio with TMPGEnc.

If you want to encode the svcd only in divx 311 low motion -i mean one-pass not the SBC two-pass way, then you could also open the mpeg file with FlasKMPEG, i would propose you to use 0.6 Preview, i know there is 0.76 RC2 out, but it crashed at my system yesterday 3 times at some tests....
oh by the way, with that programm you can also handle the audio.. so you must not demux it with TMPGEnc....

thanks,i tried flask and it works, but the only problem is that the audio and video are out of sync. is there a way to just get it to stay together like virtualdub?

normally it should not get out of sync  .
you should check the source framerate and your framerat in flask at the video-tab in the global options. it should be the same framerate
