Postcompression compressability stats

Is there any way of getting the quant that was used on each frame post compression, once i have an avi file.

I want something that I can test the "relative quality" with but do it after compression, rather than leaving debug view open. It'd also be nice to see how well other XviD based things i have downloaded are compressed.

All I'm thinking of is the same as nandub's quality rating on file info on divx3's.

I'm no c/c++ guru altho I'm learning, I doubt I know enough to do this so is anyone else up for the challenge?
