Finally figured it out and already had e-mail correspondece with Darrow about this.
If you download Bitrate Viewer and load the first VTS_01_1.VOB file (in my case Back To The Future 1) and press the button GOP's you will see the following:
GOP -------- Timecode ------ Pic n. ------ Pictures
- 1 ------- 00:59:59:00 ------ 12 ------ IPBPBBPBBPBB
- 2 ------- 00:00:00:00 ------ 12 ------ IBBPBBPBBPBB
So what ReMpeg2 1.5.2. does, it takes the first GOP key and transcodes the whole movie with it.
But that's not the correct GOP since almost all the other GOP key's are like GOP key No. 2 in the example above.
That's why you get video artifacts or shaking after the remux process.
Since the author of ReMpeg2 1.5.2. abandoned his project (as mpucoder explained to me) there's no way of correcting it in ReMPEG2 1.5.2. unless someone on this forum has engough understanding of assembler and changes this in the current version of ReMPEG2 1.5.2, so that ReMPEG2 1.5.2. does NOT take the first key to trancode the whole movie but second/third or whatever.
Other solution is to chop/cut off the first GOP key, and I already asked Darrow about this, but he doesn't know how to do this.
There is a nice program around (called GOPCHOP) that does this, but it's written for Unix/Linux.
Wrote the author of GOPCHOP and asked him if he could make a Windows XP version, and also send him the first 5 MB of the VTS_01_1.VOB from Back To The Future 1 to examine.
He knows exactly what I mean and wrote in a reply -> After re-encoding 'artifacts' ?
But then why does TMPGEnc. do the job ok ?
Well, when you Create TMPG Template with Ifoedit you have to pic a GOP key and then Ifoedit creates the Template with this key that is imported in TMPGEnc, and transcodes the whole movie with it, incl. the wrong key that's corrected.
So as long as you do NOT take the first GOP key, everything goes well.
I did a good ReMpeg from Back To The Future 1 with TMPGEnc and it looks great !
No video disturbances/artifacts or shaking.
So, if you want to know wether or not a movie has this 'Protection' just load the first VTS_01_01.VOB in Bitrate Viewer and press GOP's.
As I explained above you know where to look for, and it can save you a lot of transcoding time.
I also posted a reply that you could do the trick with XP Chopper 2.1 and I almost did it.
But, if you don't cut up to a NAV Pack (check with VOBedit), Ifoedit does NOT let you recreate the ifo's cause the first VOB doesn't start with a NAV pack.
So this solution won't work either, sorry for that.
Well it's up to others to come with a solution, I don't have the skills or knowledge to make such a program or make changes in ReMpeg2 1.5.2.
