Hi,
I am considering downloading the latest version of dvd2svcd as I read somewhere but I can't find where now, that you can do vcd as well as svcd in the latest versions.I was just wondering if that was so and if it is are there any special settings needed.
Many thank's in advance for any advice given

this has been an option for awhile now...the newest beta is in the advanced forum, under a thread called "help!!!!"...
most users would recommend using tmpgenc to encode a vcd and dvd2svcd to enocde an svcd, however if you wanted, vcd is an option with dvd2svcd, and downloading the newest beta isn't required to do so. in the misc tab you just select output type to be mpeg1 (vcd)instead of mpeg2 (svcd). if you want to make a true compliant vcd your audio should be 224kbps and the video will should be cbr 1150. however i have never converted to vcd using dvd2svcd and i don't know if this will happen automatically but you could specify those options just in case.

getting the latest version 1.0.9b3 would help for sure. Either load the vcd-settings.ini file or manually input your settings http://www.mrbass.org/dvd2svcd/vcd/

Or you can load the VCD-Settings.ini in the "Load settings" button under the Misc tab. I also don't see why you need the latest beta, the current one works fine. Oh and I'd advise you use TMPGEnc as the encoder for DVD2SVCD if you want to make VCDs.

i'd prolly not download the latest beta if you are new to using dvd2svcd as its not fully bug free at the moment and could cause you more problems then using a released version.

You really need to get the 1.1.0 B1 RC1 version of DVD2SVCD, as the VCD-Settings.ini that comes with 1.0.9 does NOT make fully compliant VCD. The one with RC1 does.
