Premiere 6.5 mpeg2 encoder

What is the picture quality of Premiere 6.5 encoder? I mean to use it to encode mpeg2 format.

The Premiere 6.5 MPEG encoder is based on MainConcept's encoding engine, and apparently the output MPEG quality is reasonably good. If you download the MainConcept standalone encoder, you will get a fair approximation of what the Premiere plugin will do, although the plugin won't be *quite* so fully-featured as the standalone. The encoder is not very fast, but then neither is TMPGEnc, and that's one of my all-time favourite encoders.

The ideal solution, though, IMHO, is to frameserve from the timeline out to the Cinemacraft Standalone encoder (not the plugin!). This was you will get superb quality *WITH* superb speed.

May be you are right.

I try Premiere 6.5 encoder and make a comparison with CCE and TMPGEnc. In terms of quality, P6.5 encoder is quite good but CCE and TMPGEnc are much better in contrast and color.

When testing P6.5 encoder, I use vbr with max at 9500 and min at 9000. I don't change other parameters. And I miss multi-pass encoding in P6.5 encoder.

I wouldn't mind seeing a web site that compared output from CCE, TMPG, and the new Premiere encoder side by side. I tried out the new 6.5 encoder and I couldn't tell a difference, but I didn't have the freeze framed side by side, either.

Does anyone have the tools to do this? It would be nice. In fact, if someone were to send me some screenshots of the different encoded portions, I could put them on my website.
