Looks like we're finally seeing more brands of DVD-R/RW's coming out. that's great news!
It definitely improves the chances of seeing DVD-R become more of a standard, and lowers the price of the Pioneer's.

here is one I saw today:

I belive the Cendyne is just a rebadged Pioneer. But for the price Outpost has you can get a real Pioneer. Newegg has the Pioneer for $290 with free shipping. I got mine from them and was very happy with the service. However, they charge a 15% restocking fee if you return it. If it is defective they'll send you a new one with no fee.

My Guess

Christmas time 104's will be selling for $199 and the new 105's at $299 by the online tech stores used as loss leaders. And if you can find a 103 in someones inventory they'll be pushing those for $149 just to recapture their inventory dollars.

There was a lot of hupla regarding the new sony drive when it first came out. I just haven't heard that many comments about how great it is, actually to the contrary. Only time will tell.

Christmas push and results will be intresting.
