I'm an ignorant Newbie needing help... again! I'm sorry for all the posts in the last few days. Once I get this one answered, I have alot less activity on your boards...

After processing a large GKnot job (converting a DVD-movie to a DivX5-movie) I have NO AUDIO during playback in my "DivX Player 2.0 Alpha"

To help me troubleshoot, I've listed my system specs and my settings in GKnot:

SYSTEM SPECS (I know its an older system but its the only thing i've got): Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live! Audio Card, Creative Labs 6x Encore DVD-Rom Player hooked to a DXR3 Decoder Card, ATI Radeon 7500 64mb Video Card, P2-450MHZ Intel Processor, 384mb system memory, 30gb Maxtor 7200rpm UltraATA hard-drive hooked to a 133MHz UltraATA Controller, Win98 Second Edition

GKNOT AUDIO SETTINGS (in detail) :
1. Within DVD2AVI, under the Audio menu option > I selected 'Track1' (its the English 6channel audio track)

2. Within DVD2AVI, under the Audio menu option > Dolby Digital > I selected Demux.

3. After the DVD2AVI rip, it created an .AC3 file successfully.

4. Now in the Bitrate tab of GKnot, under the Interleaving&AVI-Overhead section, I 'ticked' the 1X AC-3 option. I changed the dropdown box to "2 Frames"

5. Under the AUDIO A section, I 'ticked' the Size option. I hit the Select button and selected the .ac3 audio track from the DVD2AVI rip.
I verified the size of the .ac3 file matched what GKnot was displaying.

6. In the DIVX ENCODING CONTORL PANEL section, under the AUDIO 1 tab, I selected the .ac3 audio track from the DVD2AVI rip. I 'ticked' the Just-Mux option. I double-checked that the Delay was correct. Under Interleaving I selected "2 Frames" and then 160ms. Preload

After all this, the final project has NO AUDIO during playback

Hi-

First, does the .ac3 file play? If not, you need the filters:

Audio Filters (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Filters/audiofilters.zip)

If the AC3 track plays fine by itself, but not when muxed with the movie, then get:

GSpot (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Editing/gspot11.zip),

point it to the movie and confirm that the AC3 track has been muxed into the .avi.

If it's a good AC3 track, and has been successfully muxed, but still doesn't play, then the interleave values are probably to blame. Mux it manually using Nandub and the settings found in the AC3 Q & A (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18318).

If Manono's suggestions aren't enough, and, if you still have the GKnot.log file, you could always copy the text and paste it into a reply here. However, I think he may have uncovered your trouble.

You didn't mention anything about encoding. I'd bet anything that dvd2avi is not your problem. When encoding, make sure you hit the audio tab, click source, select the ac3 file, select the MP3 button, and type in a bit. I use 128. Make sure the "finally mux" box is checked. Then go back to the DIVX5 tab, and Add Job. In the encoding list, the last item should say "Mux audio". I bet this is your issue.

I may be new to this forum, but I've been using Gknot for a while.

Hi cexshun-

I'd bet anything...

I'll take that bet. How much you got?:)

He's not encoding. He's using the DD 5.1 (AC3) track and just muxing. My guess is that he doesn't have the correct filters installed to play it back, but it's not anything I'd bet money on.
