My computer recently crashed so i reinstalled Windows 2000 and everything was fine again, but NO audio palys. The speakers are on and everything, and when I try to play something with audio in Windows Media Player I get a message 'No audio hardare is detected' or something. When I go to Sounds and Multimedia in my Control Panel, the only audio options I have are from my MODEM!! (which doesn't play any audio)
I got along fine without it, but now I really need it back. What can I do ?

Yup no audio is frastrating! i take it you have installed the audio drivers and anysoftware needed to run the soundcard? is the sound card build on to the mother board? open up your computer and finf out he make of your card then do a search on google for your make + drivers and update to the newest version , you could also try www.windowsupdate.com but (a) its microsoft :) (b) i dont know if it will find drivers for "unrecognized" hardware , And if worse comes to worst you can all ways start ripping movies with your language sub titles :D JK
