I tried to insert the matrices from mb1's post into tmpg's .ini file.
(from June 18, 2002)

I only saw the original three default ones in the pulldown and when I looked at my .ini, it had re-inserted the the default ones. How do you add new matrices?

It works for me. Are you sure that you have saved the file?
Notepad perhaps saved it as tmpgenc.ini.txt?
Otherwise it is possible to enter the matrices manually.
Just try one with random numbers and save with a new name.
Then you can look in the ini file how it should look like.

Hi Ronny
I copied and pasted the file from mb1's post into tmpgenc.ini, replacing the three default matrices. I then have the 19 matrices in the .ini file. I save it woith the same file name. When I run Tmpg, only the three default matrices show up in the drop down matrix box. When I open the .ini file, my nineteen matrices are still there put tmpg has added the 3 default ones at the end. I have tried the hand editing with success, but thought this might be a simple way install a lot of matrices.
Any other ideas? TIA

I had the same problem (unfortunately, I don't remember what version of TmpgEnc I was using at that time...)
Recently, and only by chance, with the latest TmpegEnc I tried again and it went fine.
So, my advice is to update your Tmpg and try with that...
Hoping it helps, bye from Antonello

I tried the latest Tmpg+ 2.58 and there still is a problem. I'm starting to think there may be a bad (html control character?) in my file I cut and pasted from mb1. Would it be possible for someone to attach their working .ini file (Tmpg+ 2.58) to this post or p.m. me with it? That should make it work...
TIA

1 - save your TmpgEnc.ini file
2 - change the Line Count= 5 ( 5 for 5 matrices installed)
3 - Copy the last matrix block
4 - Change Name = 3 to 4 if it is the fifth one ( First is Name=0)
5 - Change accordingly each matrix line (title and coeficients)
Intra4_0=8 16 19 22 26 27 29 34
Intra4_1=16 16 22 24 27 29 34 37
It there is any mistake in your TmpgEnc.Ini file structure, your matrix is deleted and replaced by 16 16 ... coefficients. So it is highly preferable to edit your new matrix in a separate file as to paste it into the TmpgEnc.Ini file, before testing it.

Hi ,
I have been using tmpgenc for a while now and I have never altered the Quant matrix.
What is this?
Is this what you are refering to in previous posts?
What are the advantages/disadvantages to changing this?
Sorry if this seems lame but I have no idea what your talking about.
Regards,
Drafty
