It depends on the file extension of the mpeg2 you want to open.The .mpv,.vob,.ac3 extensions it opens o.k but the .mpg extension was problematic for me using the powerdvd filters alone.In the case of .mpg i used a different mpeg2demultiplexer filter in the graph chain.
If you are using windowsXP and have a "open with" option in the context menu when you right click a media file,it should let you browse to open it with graphedit,this way you can see what filters windows opens the file with and gives you a basic graph structure to work from,especially handy if your relativly new to graph edit.
