VCD Dat to Xvid wit Gnot?

Ok guys I need some help. I wanna convert a vcd dat file to xvid. Here's what i'm doing. I use VCDGear to convert the .dat into a mpeg file but where do I go from here? Don't I need a .d2v file to use in Gnot? But Dvd2avi won't work for an mpeg. I've been using both the doom9 xvid guide and the vcd-divx conversion guide and try to put somethin together but it isn't working out. Any help would be appreciated, or a link would be even better.

If you haven't discovered this already, you can just open the MPEG in Virtualdub. Then you go to the video tab and select compresion. Then you select Xvid, from there you enter the settings you want. That's about as easy as it gets.
