cut a part from an xvid movie?

is it possible with virtual dub or another program to cut a part from an xvid movie?

As long as it's an AVI (without audio?), VirtualDub should do the job.

ofcourse i tried it :)
virtual dub says: couldn't locate decompressor for format xvid

so: do i have to do something so i can load it in virtual dub or is there an other program?

For VDub you need a full binary distribution of the xvid codec including the xvid dll, not just the standalone decoder - VDub is a VfW application while the standalone decoder uses the directshow framework.

There is a section somewhere in the Doom9 Guides that talks about doing this for Divx, using direct stream copy and cutting only at key frames, etc. Most of this applies equally to Xvid.
