ReMpeg2 bitrate help!

My .VOB file is:

4,952,487,936 Bytes
4,836,414 KB
4.61 GB

The length of Movie is 6,613.5 seconds

Avg. Bitrate is 5490000

the audio is 6ch .ac3 one track

just the movie, ON extras.

I'm getting 91.6% is this right Ireally don't know?

I get 94.27. That's using DVD-R calculator. That doesn't really make sense because it doesn't seem to take into account the size of the audio track which is around 413MB. If you took off 6% of the total size it would be down to 4.6GB. If the sound was 413MB you'd want something like 22% reduction. to hit around 4.3GB. Maybe it's the beer talking but I think that's right.

do you use ReMpeg2, if so how do you calculate the bitrate.

I was thinking of using smartripper to demux .ac3 & .m2v
separatly so i would know the size of the .m2v.

But other than that it isn't necessary because IfoEdit will replace
the original Mpeg-2 file in the .VOB with the .m2v file that Rempeg makes....

If you know of a working calculation method please share.

After the first pass in Rempeg it should give you some stats on the file. You can get the file size from Windows Explorer. This is all in the guide. I use DVD-R calculator which will give you an idea about what percent you need to drop off to make the file size acceptable. I haven't used RemPeg in a while, I use CCE now which basically tells you the size of the video portion. Since the audio is done separately you just add the two together and you'll know if you'll make it or not.

Well 91.6% was right because I encoded @ 90% & was 125MB
under the 4489MB max!
