Now I have encoded many DVD's using DVD2SVCD but never had this problem. I installed a newer version then I had been using and tried to encode Shallow Hal with CCE through DVD2SVCD. For some reason when it was finished you can see the scanlines between the two fields of NTSC when there is movement on screen!! Horizontal lines along the edges of objects and people in motion. The no deinterlace option was on so yes it should be interlaced but you shouldn't be able to see the scan lines on both the TV and the computer. What's my best option here? I had never de-interlaces before and never had this problem. Could it be DVD specific?

Please change your title, it is in violation of forum Rule #9.

Edit: Looks like mark already took care of it. Just for future reference, make sure not to use !!! or ??? in posts.

I cannot help with your problem, but need to point out a couple of issues with your post.

All problems/help me posts belong in the basic forum.
The use of !!!? in the title is against forum rules. It has been edited.

You may want to try a search while waiting. Many questions have been asked on interlacing of the life of this forum.

Sorry about the exclamation point deal, wont happen again. Regarding my problem though could it possibly be due to the fact that I had turned off the autmatic force film option so the proper pulldown method was not used?

It could be, but interlacing usually makes it shut off automatically anyway. They best way to check is find a chapter it happens in and just encode that chapter.

If it happens again in the test chapter try it again with Force Film set at Automatic and SmarDeinterlace selected in the drop down on the conversion tab.

I'll have to post it when I get home to my computer. Thanks though

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to encode just one chapter as described above? I have a similar problem and would like to troubleshoot it in that way.

Thanks,

To clarify my above message. I need to do this with vob's already ripped to disk as my DVD is not available to me.

First, create a new folder to place the chapter/vob you are about to rip.
IN DVD2SVCD, be sure to have "Activate DVD ripping" checked to on under the "DVD Rip" tab.
Under the "Conversion" tab, select the Open Folder icon instead of the Disc icon and browse to the folders where you ripped the vob's to and select the ifo file.
Under "Movie Length", select the tab on the right, and you can then select or deselct the chapters you want.
Select "Go".
