hiya...

I'm just about to experiment with some more converting svcd (and cvds) to a cpl of films onto one disc.

I make my films either by ripping the dvd, or converting a divx, to a typical 2cd CVD using dvd2svcd. When I convert them, I always choose 4:3 ratio regardless of if it is a CVD for the usual reasons that people mention about better picture for a 16:9 cd as more pic used and stretched etc.

What I'm mainly asking...is.....now that I've deplexed the mpg streams etc and they're ready to load into SpruceUp.....for the starting spruceup settings....should I choose a 16:9 or 4:3 setting as really they may be encoded as 4:3 but they end up playing 16:9 don't they???

a cpl of small questions too if you could help.

Is it ok on my dvd to put 2 films on, one being an ntsc cvd stream and the other being a pal one? or would that cause problems??

and secondly, must I always join the 2 mpg files for each movie from cd before splitting them....or is there a way in spruceup to automatically get it to play the 2nd svcd's file straight after first one is.

thanks,
Tuck

Tuck,

I have only started to use Spruce Up in the lats few months, so, I'm not quite up to "expert" level yet, but can answer some of your questions.

Aspect Ratio 16:9 - 4:3
Spruce Up does not support 16:9 aspect ratio, It only supports 4:3.

However, all is not lost. I have read on several occasions that you can change the ratio using Ifoedit. Never done it myself, but the process seemed quite straight forward.

PAL - NTSC
While Spruce Up supports both these formats, it is not possible to mix these formats on the same disc.

As for joining mpegs, why don't you use the "menu" feature in Spruce Up ? I've not used it myself yet, but reading about it seems veryy easy.

hiya, cheers for that.

Confusing about the SpruceUp not supporting 16:9? especially as when you choose properties it lets you choose between the 2? Is that just for the menu screens or would it affect the movies I've encoded? so if they were at 4:3 would they still play on my 16:9 at the stretched ratio like an SVCD made would do? I assume so

I do have some sort of problems it seems.
I tried to mix at first the ntsc and pal films. It gave me an ntsc/pal mismatch type.

experimenting around I managed to get it to work choosing nothing but ntsc streams (cvd resolution 352x480) and got 6 cds worth to the dvd disc just, and all playing no hassle. However, if I try to create a project in PAL, using only PAL cvd titles (352x576) each time I try to build I get that ntsc/pal mismatch every time still even if I'm certain theres nothing of ntsc video on there? any ideas?
