I have recently decieded to dig out my old TV capture card and do some Video Capture on my PC.

I have installed the Universal WDM Bt capture drivers from sourceforge, VirtualDub 1.4.10, Huffyuv 2.1.1, Divx 5.0.2, PicVideo MJPEG,

The problem i have is that i can capture in 720x576 25fps with huffyuv no problem, but when i switch to 352x288 the VT adjust slowly increases shortly followed by dropped frames, there appears to be white interrfreance lines on the outputed video and scratch noise on the audio, the result is poor and unuseable. If i switch to Divx codec i can capture at 352x288 25fps with VT Adjust staying stable at 0 and no dropped frames. WHY? i cant capture 720x576 25fps with Divx due to insufficeient processing power. I have tried using PicVideo MJPEG which works ok for a few second but then VT Adjust increases and dropped frames occur along with the interferance.

When using huffyuv processor never uses more that 40-50% nad using PicVideo 50-60%, divx in 352x288 50%.

i have latest drivers for Soundblaster Live card, and my motherboard installed, all i can assume is a VirtualDub problem?

Please help me im dying

Hi there.

You need to come back with some more info such as o.s. cpu mobo hd size and speed etc...

I would check the faq, especially concerning hd optimisation.

But it sounds strange that you can cap in huffuv 720x576 and not in a lower res.

You could try using vdubsync (in faq somewhere) as it is better behaved re frame drops and audio sync. You aren't trying to compress the audio on the fly are you? Generally a very bad idea!

Good luck.

Please note that using !!!, ???, and caps in posts is against rule #9.

Sorry for breaking the rules, it wont happen again unless there is a rule against bad spelling aswell.

Using Windows XP sp1 Duron 933, 256 Mb, IBM Deskstar45GB 7200rpm ultra ata 100.

Aduio capture 44.1, 16bit, Stero uncompressed

I dont its a problem with disk access etc, i think it must be driver/codec related, tried AVI_IO and get similair problems with interfreance in that. Ive tried all the FAQs/guides i could find and done all the optimastion stuff but still getting same results.

Thnaks in advance for any help

Try other capture drivers - usually it all suddenly works when you find the right drivers :D

For me, the original Hauppage Drivers for my WinTV card work best (I tried the universal drivers once but I wasn't quite satisfied)
