Has anyone had any success at getting a PS2 to play burnt DVD media. If so what media/brand was it? I have an HP dvd100i burner that only burns DVD+RW discs. These discs work fine on all the DVD players I have purchased in the past couple years. They also work on my XBOX as well (but not my PS2). The brands I have tested are Memorex and Verbatim.

PS2 can't read DVD±RW media, only DVD±R works.

How can someone buy a dvd+rw-only drive? Did you allow HP to fool you about their promise to add dvd+r support via firmware upgrade?

HP didnt fool me. At the time I bought this drive (Apr 2002) I knew HP didnt plan future support for +R. I was not concerned with +R over +RW capabilities. I just assumed that a +RW compatible player was +R compatible and vice-versa. I also didnt see much need for +R since it is a write once only format. I much rather prefer re-writeable media that I can reuse and get my money's worth out of. Just my opinion though. This drive has been capable of doing everything I need it to do.

Can anyone else specify whether or not +RW media works on a PS2 or more specifically....what media does work on a PS2?

DVD+RW works on the the newest PS2. I would assume DVD-RW is the same. It doesnt work on the origional 30001 though.

Wow...thats just my luck. I have the original 30001 model. Got my PS2 the first day they were released. I guess its time to sucker my friend into swapping with me. He just got his a few months ago! :D
