when i try and encode progressive video, it has interlaced lines? what settings in avisynth should i use to get rid of it. I ussualy uyse telecide()

Do you mean really progressive, or just that DVD2AVI says it is progressive. Because, you see, the very definition of progressive is that it isn't interlaced.
DVD2AVI is not always correct, especially with PAL video...

Is yours PAL or NTSC?

For PAL don't use Decimate(5), for NTSC you need it.

Telecide() usually works great, if not you could also try FieldDeinterlace().

FieldDeinterlace(full=false,dthreshold=0,blend=false,chroma=true) ;)
