Hi folks.
I have searched a lot through the forums, but I couldn't find conclusive questions about these questions. Just tones of threads with tones of posts, many of them leading to other threads outside the forum. It would make this forum much more useful if a "Conclusion thread" was created, in which the conclusions of each important thread
were gathered, in clear, human-readable text. It would not be much work, since NOT EVERY DAY POPS UP A NEW ADVANCE. Take the example of AC3-OGM muxing: it took some time to get it right, and the process description could be summarized in a bunch of lines (somehow I can feel somebody will be hard on me for these comments :-) ).
OK Let's get to the point:
I have mixed mp3, AC3 and 2 vorbis ogg in an ogm. Each audio stream corresponds to a language. ZoomPlayer plays it cool. You cannot change languages with the "Language" option, but with the "Audio Track" option. That is not quite elegant, but what the hell! Anyway, if somebody could tell me of some solution to get this nicer, e.g. via manual graph definition, please tell me!
BSPlayer is much less elegant, since it suporposes mp3, ac3 and one of the ogg stream. If you change the idiom, only the played ogg stream is switched. As far as I know there's no solution to this. I guess I should build some graph and have BSPlayer play it. But I don't know either which graph to build or how to make BSPlayer play it. Moreover, the directshow filter properties, accessible from BSPlayer, do not allow any change. I don't know how the hell Zoom Player manages to get only one stream sounding and keep the other disconnected. Does anybody know of some (working) solution?
I love BSPlayer. Always have. I love the ini files because they do not depend on the CD drive labels. When I have 2-CD or 3-CD rips, I just burn the ini on each CD and done. BSPlayer will scan any CD drive for the files making up the film. But it all seems like I will have to turn to Zoom Player when making multi-CD rips.
Zoom Player has playlists. If you have the movie split across 2 or 3 CDs, you have to specify the absolute filepath of each chunk. In any other system, with different drive letters, Zoom Player won't find the files. Is there any means to avoid this? how could I create a playlist for Zoom Player which doesn't contain absolute paths?
I have one more question: I want to use an autolaunch utility on the first CD. I don't want to include any codec nor player on the CD (so that I can always use updated versions), but I want the autoluncher to locate the player on C: and call it with some parameters. Is there any way to do that?
I have thought of a batch called by the autolunch app, which would look for the player location in the registry. How can I query registry entries from a MS-DOS batch? There is a registry entry containing BSPlayer's path, but is there any for Zoom Player? If there is none, I will have to look for zplayer.exe on C. Is there an easy way to do that?
Moreover, how can a batch be executed without showing the console window? I know echo off just hides the commands, but I mean the MS-DOS window itself. That's what I don't want to be seen.
I use ZoomPlayer v2.80 and BSPlayer 0.85 Build 490 with a PIII 800 under Win XP Pro in 256MB RAM.
