Hi,
I don't know if this belongs here (mods, please feel free to move it otherwise) but there is something I don't understand. If it has already been explained, sorry, please just point me to the appropriate threads, I couldn't find the answer using the search.)
In the "heeelp" thread by DVD2SVCD, some guys refer to the DPLII option. As far as I know, Dolby ProLogic II is an algorithm that is applied to a stereo or DPL I source and that will create from this source two fake distinct rear channels, thus simulating a truly encoded multichannel sound. I have an Onkyo amplifier that does this job, and it really is effective on old stereo or DPL VHS movies. Almost sound like 5.1 sometimes.
Now how would the encoding with DVD2SVCD be able to do something special about DPLII when it's only a decoding algorithm ? As far as I know, there is no "DPLII encoding" just like Dolby Digital 5.1 encoding. The channel separation in DPL II is purely "artificial" and recreated at playback time. So what does DVD2SVCD exactly do about this at encoding time ?
I'd like some expert around to explain me. Is it related to "preparing" the audio tracks so that they can take the maximum advantage of later DPLII decoding ?
Please help me on this one cause I really don't understand.
Waldok  but
