My marathon with the bulkpaq 3rd generation v2 continues...

I want to ask people if they have put DVD labels on the disc itself and if that caused them problem playing back on any set top player.

A friend of mine had told me that a disc I had given him couldn't playback after an hour till he took off the label from the disc.
I was making fun of him saying that it's not possible.

Well yesterday I burned a movie and played it back. I put the label on the disc and then watched it again. It froze after about an hour. I took the label back off and playback was again flawless.

The thing is that I have burned again movies to bulkpaq and put label covers on the disc and they work ok.

So I'm lost and want to see if anybody else is experiencing similar problems with other brands and disc labels.

Yeah, we've had this discussion about labels on this board before. They can definitely cause a disc to become non-playable. The label can cause the disc to wobble, or if the label heats up and starts to peal, worse.

Most people shy away from labels because of that. I've stopped putting those paper and glossy labels on my DVDs because of those same problems (had a few that played fine without a label, wouldn't play with a label). Instead, I've gone to using a thin, translucent lightweight label for the full face ones and a hub ring label for the double-sided ones. So far, so good.

The key is that no manufacturer supports putting a label on a DVD. If you do, then you take your chances.

Hi
The best solution is to buy a printable DVD and print it.

Yeah... is the best but not the most cost effective...

I'm gonna try the hub ring label solution. Cause the soft pen solution makes the discs look so ugly.

On DVD of quality, better balances than the bulkpack, and if the reading is made with top-of-the-range readers, that can functions with light labels.
With the cheap readers, because of their mecanic, the label can cause the disc to wobble.
