View Full Version : Almost terrific program

Hi folks. I was wondering if you could help me -- if
you know something about an "almost" incredible
program.
I used last night for the first time a program called
EASYDIVX. I have used several DVD copy programs and
several work to a more or less good degree. But they
take a LONG time and the results are iffy.
EasyDIVX took a total of 2.5 hours to copy the DVD to
a file size that fit on TWO CDs... and the video
quality surpassed anything I have ever seen anywhere!
I was amazed.
But then I discovered the AUDIO track didn't match the
video on the final files (It produced 2 AVI files, one
in CD1 and the other in CD2).
Do you know what might be going wrong? Am I messing
up something? This is the most incredible program I
have ever seen to copy DVDs... if it would only work!
Any advice would be most welcome.

... adjust the audio manually in Vdub... for details see the doom9 guides!
it's a pure trial and error thing... but it works... most of the time at least!

but please first contact the doom9 guides if you have such problems... and also search the forums...
it's all been discussed many many times! (:
happy ripping/ encoding

I guess steVe, that what I'm really looking for is something different. I'd like to find a program that converts DVDs to mpegs (preferrably, high-quality VCDs). There are so many available I tend to get lost and the forums tend to be very tech.
I have used with a great deal of success the DVDx program... it produces high quality VCDs... but takes an average of 15 - 30 hours to do so. I was wondering what is your preference in such programs?
I guess bottom line, I'm looking for a program that will convert a DVD I own to a high-quality VCD in minimal amount of time. Currently, I can achieve resolutions of about 576+ (which is far in excess of what VCD is supposed to be able to do). So that's what I'm looking for-- great quality and faster encoding times.
Thanks!

honestly i'm not at all experienced making VCDs... i've no use for them since i'm usually watching all my movie's on my computer!

Yeah, I used to watch DVDs on my computer too because of the incredible resolution. HOWEVER, I recently discovered a really neat gizmo... ViewSonic sells a digital tuner for about $150 that allows you to use a standard computer monitor (no computer needed). The resolution of the tuner is 1024 x 768... which is about the equivalent of HDTV for about half the price! (I mean, $150 + a $200 19" monitor puts out a pretty good picture).
So since then I've been watching DVDs in the comfort of my living room. VaVaVoom!

DVD2SVCD seems to be your Program. never used it, though, cause i use TV-Out and i am not a great fan of those "click here to get your dvd-rip" programs either... Better invest some more work and know what's going on, then it's easier to spot errors/improve the results.
