I'm trying to rip a backup of Fist of Legend with DVDDecrypter... When it asks me for a place to save the file, do I need to put .iso as the extension in order to then burn it to DVD-R once ripped? A step by step is really what I need...

1/ You are in the wrong forum. This is a "Decryption" question
2/ Did you have a look at the whole bunch of guides available on Doom9 ??? There is a full guide on DVD Decrypter with screen capture and step by step explanation

This is a question about burning... That is what I'm trying to do.. all I need to know is if my file that is to be burned to produce the end result of a DVD-R that can be played in a regular DVD player needs to have .ISO as a file extension in order to be burned... sorry for any interpretation issues...

DVDDecryptor will add ".iso" to the filename you specify.
It will open several file extensions by default such as .img .iso and some others.
It is fairly straight-forward... But the guides do an excellent job....
