I was bidding on some DVD-R from Meritline.com on ebay (like this one, but TDK http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2061146365 )

Then I realized with other ebay users that someone from their company ("ebml2" probably ebayMeritLine2) was bidding on ALL their items, to make the prices go higher and higher.

This "ebml2" most of the time finished 2nd or 1st, but never bought anything.

Anyway after complaining to ebay I was pleased to receive this email this morning:

Please be advised that the following auction:

2061429580 - TDK 100 Pack 2X DVDR 4.7GB Blank DVD-R Media

was ended early by eBay. The auction was ended due to the account
suspension of the seller.

Meritline account has been closed by ebay, most likely because of fraud !

WE HAVE THE POWER!

if you consider how much negative potential meritline has to actually undermine the spirit of ebay (and i am a year-long ebayer as well and believe in honesty!), why not boycott meritline!?!!! they should be shown that fooling around with customers will result in an appropriate answer!!! or are we too sedentary to initiate any actions b/c of sitting too much in front of our computer screens :sly: ???

btw, it doesn't matter if "cdr/dvdr media" is a subsidiary or an "in-law" shop of meritline! we'll take them down one by one if they also dare to commit some similar "smart-ass" idea! but an example needs to be established and also other vendors will think twice before swaying into the same direction.

i will certainly NOT order from them again! it's just like drugs: JUST SAY NO! i won't be anybody's monkey!

if you fellow doom9 readers think this is a way too radical approach, then let me know. i'm open to any discussions and input!

thxtof: thnx for posting this issue, and i'm glad you caught it and made this info available to us. if you mentioned it a little bit earlier, i could have canceled my meritline-order.

Just to give you an idea of how crook those people are:

my 1st email to meritline:

I noticed that the user "ebml2" is bidding on ALL your items... Is he be working for your company ??
I am sure that you're aware that such practices are totally illegal...
answer:
Dear Sir,
No, he is not a member of us. We do not bit for our product. We are a online store who wants to promote ourselves via ebay auction so you may see almost all the prices are lower than our store's. The items in the auction are all new as the retail in the market. I think that is the reason that some cust bitted for some of our items.
I can promise that we did not do any fraud in Ebay.
Thank you very much for your visiting.
You may see the same item in www.meritline.com

2nd email:

Hmmm ok but I just found that it is a huge coincidence that a user "EBayMeritLine2?" is bidding on ALL your items, and most of the time remains in 2nd position....
answer:
Dear Sir,
Coincidence exists everywhere in our life so we can be pleased by the surprise.
Now the surprise is that for large quantity, we can give the cust 5% discount for the total amount.
Hope you may like it.

I was tempted to reply "yeah right, I hope you may like your suspension for fraud from ebay :sly: !!!"

yep, i read your post. so, why not put a sticky on this? would that be too revolutionary? or will there be any possible litigations? how about freedom of speech in a forum :sly: ?

File a complaint with ebay - that type of action is BS.

but that's what thxtof did, and that's why meritline's account got suspended (which is a great move from ebay). but i think it should be more than this, namely a really nice lesson -- a boycott . every dime that we spend on meritline will support their way of how they treat customers! of course, we cannot change the world, but we can warn other fellow doom9 readers and inexperienced newbies from this company, and i think we are already doing a good job by keeping this thread active!!!

alright, meritline " HASTA LA VISTA, BABY " (the terminator)

Why do people even use meritline when there are such great alternatives such as:

http://www.rima.com/

I know as an international customer I basically have to use meritline for some speciality discs (DVD-R authoring/9.4Gb DVD-R) but other than that I will do my best to avoid that company.

Sorry I ment to add this in my previous post. I read about this site on the doom board and ordered the Riteks - It was a smooth transaction and my deliver came in three days.

Just another quality alternative to thieves.

guys. supermediastore.com is the cheapest around.

Contradictory to what a lot of ppl think they are NOT meritline (site looks similar and sells similar stuff but they aren't meritline).

I don't understand why you guys went to meritline and bought the exact same stuff supermediastore sold for a lot higher prices.

probably because supermediastore.com don't ship internationally (well that was the reason why i chose meritline).

Someone posted on here that they were the SAME store...
damn...i'm going to give supermediastore a try next time.
them and shop4tech.

i'm dumping meritline for all time now.
i'm sick of waiting around for my stuff

Well just to be fair... cdrdvdmedia was better than supermediastore for the ritek's I just bought, because they had a wider range of pack sizes and were (relatively speaking) very cheap for their small packs (thanks to free shipping). I have used both companies in the past 2 weeks and supermedia store were faster by about 2 days, but of course they were charging for that faster shipping.

I have had good luck with CDRDVDRMEDIA.com - so far two orders, both delivered in 8 days with there free shipping which is OK. I live in Maine and they ship UPS ground from Cali so 8 days is OK. I thought they were tied in with Meritline but I could be wrong. They both ship out of the same city and have similiar sites. They both even sell $19.99 sampler packs with very similiar items and they both charge the exact same amount to ship, but that could be because they are in the same city:eek:

Come on guys ! All these 3 stores are the same thing... Open your eyes !!!

@jesoonster, check out

You'll realize that Meritline, cdrdvdrmedia and supermediastore are operated by the same powerful enterprise, www.comptree.net

No matter who you are buying from, all the money goes to Comptree

Just thought I'd announce that meritline has fucked up my order (they forgot send part of my order).

It will be interesting to see what they will do to fix their mistake since I'm an international customer.

gooki i feel so sorry for you. good luck getting it fixed!! it'll probably take you several weeks if they ever do fix it.

i'm still waiting for them to credit me the money they charged me on stuff they never shipped.

i'll wait a week and if they don't do it i'll dispute the charges....blah...what a pain

thxtof

Be careful, I think you only get one month to dispute the charges !

Hello im from the uk & im after some double sided dvd-r, the only store i found them at was supermediastore which does not ship internationally, after reading the posts i will not buy off any of these 3 stores anyway, so could someone suggest where i could find any (preferably in the uk but not essential).

I have been unsuccesful finding any anywhere.
