BUT igot some color problems: i can get either a very very dark picture or one where the white color is really glowing... i've tried to fumble with all those settings (contrast etc, but i can't get it to look better!)
i'm using a normal compoite in and a program called Power VCR II (don't know if it's common out there, but it was delivered with my computer)

another problem is caputring! i've done some with the same program from my DV camera and it worked perfectly, but when i try to capture from the composite, the picture is fine (well VHS, but it's working) but there's no sound playing i'v looked if there is the right channel (AUX Line In) set and in my opinion there's no problem!


any ideas?

I'm assuming that you're capturing via a TV tuner card. Usually, there is a patch cable that goes from the cap card to the sound card line in.

If you are using an external device like a Dazzle DVC then you not only need an audio in cable from your VCR, but also an audio out cable with an RCA (white/red) on one end and a composite on the other which goes into the sound card.

Your DV is OK probably because you're using firewire and audio/video gets captured together.

i'm not capturing with a TV tuner card but with a geforce 4 mx...
but the problem was the same... i had hooked up the audio to the front audio in... because im working with a composite in which does not have any audio channels anyway... but i found out that this fron in weasn't even connected to anything... just the jack and nothing behind... as soon as i started using the line in it worked perfectly...
