I've had this problem now on 3 discs (Contact, Gladiator and some "Recreational Matieral") where it goes for about half the disc, and then it seems to be looking for a new key and it errors out with retries with some of the following:

I/O Error!

Device: [1:0:0] HP DVD Writerj (E:)

ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CDB: A8 00 00 19 DB A5 00 00 00 01 00 00
Interpretation: Read (12) - Sector 1694629

Sense Area: F0 00 03 00 19 DB A5 0C 00 00 00 00 11 00
Interpretation: Uncrecoverable Read Error

I've tried on several different DVD drives, an HP, a Toshiba and a Pioneer all with the sameish results. I'm running windows XP and tried with CloneCD, ForceASPI and the Nero ASPI. Any other ideas?

If you need more info, please let me know, I really want to be able to rip these discs.

This disc is scratched/dodgy and has a sector (possibly more) that the drives cannot read - hence the 'Unrecovered Read Error' !
Take the disc back and get it replaced - It is the drive thats erroring out, NOT the program. You / I / We have no control over that.

Hmmm, I've looked at all three discs and they don't look scratched to me. Could it be something with Windows XP? Is there a perferred ripping platform? It just really doesn't seem like it's the scratches with these discs, it looks like to me when it's chaning layers or something. Sometimes I can get it to go further on the disc, like it was having an autorization problem or something. Was there something I had to turn off in WinXP about DVD's? My discs just look reallllly clean to me. Two of the three are discs I own, and thus are not scratched at all..

Thanks for all your help and a GREAT ripper.

All I can say is, make sure you have 'Fast Error Skip' DISABLED and put the 'read error retry count' on the 'Advanced' tab to its maximum value (20).
So basically, default settings are the best :-)
Just keep clicking on the retry button when (if) you get the read error - it may eventually work :)
