I don't know what the f is going on with these online stores, but I'm really sick of it! First this damned online store called Bestsonic screws up my order completely. They sent me 3 generic DVD-R's when I asked for a Pioneer DVD-RW. They respond to my email by saying they'll fix the mistake and send me the correct disk. I never get it, that was 3 weeks ago.

Now, I'm messing with Meritline again. They charged my credit card back on Oct 9th, but so far it hasn't shipped. I can't get any information from them about why it hasn't shipped. Why do they charge my credit card when they aren't ready to ship? F'ing morons!

Can someone suggest a good online store that has good prices on DVD-R's???

Well, www.alternate.de is really reliable, but their dvd-r prices are rediculous, and they won't ship to you...they even phone you if one of the items you ordered is not guarantied to be available within 2 weeks, and if it is expected to take about 1-2 weeks for some items, then they will split your order into 2 separate packages, of course without additional cost.

Hypermicro.com has clear website, quick ordering and superfast delivery....I can recommend it!

No problems with supermediastore.com either.

I have had good success with shop4tech as well and also cdrdvdrwmedia.com (which is really meritline), but only when I call them and place the order instead of online and TELL them to ship it the next day, so far the last three orders were actually a couple of days ahead of schedule. plus free shipping and these accu .70/ discs seem great, so far 125 burned and only 3 coasters(2 my own fault)

Thanks.
I'll try some of those out.

I finally got a response from Meritline. Now they say that they will ship it on Monday! Damn! I ordered my DVD-R's back on oct 9th, and they charged my credit card on the 10th, and now it won't get shipped until the 21st?????

Can you not cancel the order and undo their charge of your credit card?

How about any online stores within Canada?

I have dealt with some of the mentioned online stores, but would like to skip all the exchange rate, shipping, and border taxes.. big pain!

alexnoe, these are the same clowns who took 3 weeks to fix a "double charge" on my credit card, and only after I threatened to dispute the charges with my credit card company..and only after they said a few times "we don't see that we double charged you"...then they changed their mind and said "oh we see it, w'ell fix it".

i just got tempted by their good prices and selection of stuff..but it looks like their web site is just real fancy but doesn't really deliver the goods.

I ordered online through cdrdvdrmedia (AKA Meritline) and had serious problems, but when I call 626-855-2156 or 626-330-5191, can't remember which right now, they have come through with flying colors. I just received my fourth order early now. When I call they say to place order online but I tell them NO I want to place over phone and want it verified that the order will be shipped out that morning or next day, so far GREAT RESULTS...

I got 100 DVD-R's with cases for $113 - free shipping too!

I like www.cdrdvdrmedia.com !
Okay, yes I know it's a brotherinlaw deal for meritline but I've had 3 different buys of the accus's there and I'm happy with the product. Two batches turned out to be LD's or lead data the last batch is Ritek 003. Both orders were placed for accu's and disks appear identical. Silver top with light purple underside. Burn great and are economical.

Have not experienced shipping failures although I have only requested "next donkey headed this way" or free shipping. I try to order when I get down to 25 disks, that way I never run out and take advantage of the free shipping. Usually takes 5 working days. Order on Monday, receive on following Monday.

hope this helps :p

How about the Ritek or Primedisc from shop4tech? I would prefer getting the Ritek, but the Primedisc (says they are Ritek discs still) has a 50 pack with 50 cases for $69. Has anyone tried the Primedisc out? Tried writing at 2x?

Eldorado,

I've burned hundreds of PrimeDisc (Ritek) and they all work great! I just completed burning 25 double-sided and about 50 single-sided at 2x using the new 2x4all firmware, and they work like a champ!

I get them from shop4tech, and just ordered another hundred yesterday.

I must say Ritek is the way to go, I've got ritek G1, they work fine, but Primedisc G3 are far superior, I can burn them at 2x with hacked firmware with no problems and they work in player like Rotel which is extremly !!! picky about the media. (G1 skips, acer, nashua, vivastar....and other low cost media skipis like crayz)
I'm waiting till tomorow (I pay my credit card bills on 18th, so if I buy tomorrow I'll have 1 month delay) :D to order Ritek G3 50 spindle for 57$ or Primedisc which you mentioned for 67$ ?, thats also Ritek, cases are worth at least 10$.
I hope shop4tech has a good service.

bezerk, I've always had good luck with Shop4tech. The one time they had a shipment issue, they went out of their way to resolve it. I just ordered another 100 Primedisc/Ritek's for $109.

Ok, I'll take a shot at the PrimeDisc then. Yep, it's a bundle at Shop4Tech, 50 discs + 50 Cases for $69, and free shipping if you live in the states..

I had previously ordered some discs from there about 2 months ago, white on top and light pink underside, I believe they are 1x Princo. Service was great and was shipped immediately, received it in about 4-5 days (canada). Very well packaged so that no damage is done!

padre, bezerk:

do you guys know what kind of "ritek" shop4tech is selling? g1 or g3? i need to order some more blanks as well. can you burn 2x with g1?

I believe Shop4Tech sells the Ritek's that are G3's. I mostly order the PrimeDisc 50 or 100 packs, and they are definitely RitekG3's. They are the same price as the Ritek's.

Rima.com sell the RitekG3 for $0.95 if you buy 100.

They have pretty reasonable shipping fees.

guys,

i ordered 100 primediscs from shop4tech. their website was customer friendlier than rima's where you had to enter all your personal data before you could actually see the shipping fees! nah, not with me :sly: .

thanks again for your input!

I just ordered a 25 pack of Primedisc's from shop4tech.
If they're made by Ritek they should be pretty good :)

Hy, you can find Ritek G03 at www.dvd-and-media.co.uk . No problems so far with media and site. :)

I'm not sure they will be Ritek's. Last time I ordered the 25 pack, they were AUSTAR and were in individual slimline jewel cases. Whenever I've ordered 50 or 100 spindle packs, they've been Riteks. The AUSTAR's worked perfectly, but I just wasn't expecting them.

I'll find out tonight.
My wife told me that a package from shop4tech arrived today :)

Check this out...I ordered that 25 pack from shop4tech on the weekend and it already arrived today. Meanwhile Meritline (same city as shop4tech I think), charged my card on october 9th and I still haven't received anything from them!!

What a joke!

I sent them another email...

I have burned some Auvistar CDs 3 years ago. 1 out of 6 is still readable. (or do really mean "austar"?)

padre
22nd October 2002, 22:40
Yes, I meant AUVIST..AR (that's what ADVDInfo shows). Like I said before, I'm not 100% sure about them, I prefer the RitekG3's, and that's what I get with the 50 or 100 PrimeDisc spindles from Shop4Tech.

atreides93

But shop4tech's web site specificaly says that those 25 packs are made by RITEK.

I'll try to take a look at them tonight.
but we have company so it might be late.

padre

It's easy to see. The AUVISTAR are much lighter purple than the Ritek's.

Ok I'm pissed off. They're Auvistar's!!!!

Their frikkin web site says they're Ritek's!

damn it...is there no honest online store left????

first meritline, then bestsonic, and now shop4tech?

Try the ritek G3 from rima... that's one of the cheapest place, reasonable prices and shipping fees, and they do not belong to the "gang of thieves Meritline & Co" ;)

Call 'em up and have them fix it! I had a shipment problem and they went out of their way to resolve it. Give them a chance to fix it, and if they don't, post it here!

I don't know where atreides lives, but I live in Europe, and when I get my order I have to pay tax, customs fees......
So when they screw order like this, you can imagine frustration, paying tax..... twice, waiting and waiting and waiting, frustration....... I can wait for two months to resolve it !!!

padre

bezerk, good point! I hadn't thought of the international folks. Yes, I'd be really pissed if someone screwed up my order AND it went international.

bezerk
23rd October 2002, 20:39
yes it can be frustrating.
I ordered some bulkcrap from cdrbymail, 25pack is about 17$, i bought two packages = 34$, postage about 17$, taxes and fees abut 20$
I had to send them back and pay 17$ postage and if I will have to pay taxes again it sums up to 108$ instead of 71$, thats 37$ !!!! more, another 50 spindle !

yep, frustrating :)

alrighty, i received my primedisc (100-pack on a spindle) today, and they turn out to be P..Y RITEKG..03. looks like i'm lucky ;). [for those who didn't read my last post above: i ordered them from shop4tech].

if you folks are looking for "honest" online vendors, i had a good experience with hypermicro.com which also offers P..Y RITEKG..03.

I just got some of the Ritek G03 discs in from hypermicro.com and was pleased with the transaction. I needed them quickly for a project for a customer and selected overnight shipping off their web site. The only problem was that the tracking number arrived the next day via email about 1 hour after the FedEx guy had already been here :)

So far these discs have played in all the players I've tried them in. I'm pretty pleased so far.

Has anyone found Ritek in North America from an online provider NOT based in California?

disturbed1
12th July 2003, 03:36
www.hypermicro.com Based in IL.

Ritek G04, only, not the G03's. About $20 more per 100 campared to the "California" vendors.

www.cdrom2go.com Based in AZ.

G04 $1.49 in 100 packs. They deal directly with Meritline for a few of their products. So if you're against Meritline ;)

Any reason not wanting a vendor in California?

Eyes`Only
12th July 2003, 04:26
yes a very good reason. Since stores are based in CA, any CA resident ordering from them is charged sales tax, while non-CA users don't have to pay it. It's a lame cross that us CA residents have to bear.

But $20 extra is more than the sales tax is! So that doesn't make those stores a viable option :(
