I found bug in Nic's decoder.

This is sceenshot from Matrix and is just one example of strange effects. Encoded b-frames enabled ,custom matrix and no luminance masking.
Tried it with ffdshow and it looks fine.

I didn't use B-VOP compatibility or Packed bitstreams

@Gaia,

Sometimes I got that problem too,
but I'm not sure it's 'cause of Nic's DS filter or just
the B-frame bug.

I am not sure either anymore because same thing occurs with Divx decoder too. Only ffdwshow can play it correct. Might be bug in Xvid itself.

Hmmm, I wonder if it would occur if B-VOP compatability had been used (? probably would have done)...I dont believe its my filter, but more probably a bug in XviD B-Frames. Thanks for the heads up though :)

Cheers,

@-h, Koepi:
Is anyone looking at any possible problems with B-Frames?

I haven't seen or been able to generate anything like that.. but then I can't generate streams which play without skipping frames (whether XviD or ffdshow is used, and regardless of packed/dx50 options). That's probably the 0x7F issue though.

I don't think anyone's looking at any issues like this, only 0x7F handling..

Custom matrix caused this. Nic's Decoder works fine. Encoded Matrix again, this time B-frames enabled, P-VOP campatability on and MPEG Quatization type. No wierd effects during playback.

How do you know if frames are being skipped during playback?

In particular, how do you know if B-frames are being played back at all?

Thx
