View Full Version : How can I customize compression check functions?

I'd like to see what the effects of the new denoiser 'convolution3d' are upon compressibility. How can I do this in the most simple way possible, without just encoding the files and comparing file sizes outside of GordianKnot? I like the one-click 'Now' functionality of GordianKnot's compression check and would like to stick with it. :)

Thank you.

OMG I think I found out the answer. There's an 'edit' button I've never paid attention to, right next to the 'Now' button. :D

EDIT: FALSE ALARM. Apparently this cannot be used to alter the script used for the compressibility check.

Hi-

Please see the bottom of this thread:

Please let me know if it's clear. You didn't say which codec you're using. The process is slightly easier with DivX3 as it uses a .stats file. But it's still pretty easy using DivX5.

Divx 5.02. I followed the steps in the guide and it didn't work. Very odd, I followed it to the letter. I'd "load" the correct .log file and nothing would change. No indication that it had actually loaded anything.

Hi-

Darn-not ready for sticky status yet, I guess. I just tried it again, though, and it worked fine.

So JohnMK, is your GKnot version up to date? Try something else. Before you hit Load, open the Encoder Tab, and check to see if the Bits Per Pixel is being written out as you hit Load. I've been fooling around some more, and as you said, it doesn't always give me the percentage. But it always gives me Bits Per Pixel in the Encoder Tab. So, take that and divide it into Bits/(Pixel*Frame) on the main screen (after setting Total File Size back to what it will be for the final movie, and filling in the Audio File Size and Overhead). That should give you the percentage. For example, I've got 0.447 Bits Per Pixel in the Encoder Tab and 0.264 Bits/(Pixel*Frame)=0.590=59.0%

when you "load" something you get info in the encoder tab - have a look.

gknot saves TWO bpp values for each project: one for divx3 and one for divx5. if you "load" a log file while you are in divx3 mode the value will not be displayed.
