After re-author the main movie by scenarist, the multi subs and multi audio works fine.
But when I try to merge it into other original DVD files and edit ifo with IFOUPDATE,then it shows me an error--
"The original ifo's PGC area is not large enough to hold the new PGC"
What's that mean?
I am going crazy cause I am stuck at last step and I don't know how to solve it!Please help me!!

It seems your movie is a multi PGC title.
You must use the newest ifoupdate version and you must create playlists in maestro like the info-txt-file, ifoupdate create in maestro multi pgc mode.
The PGC are not automatically in the right order.
It can be true that PGC2 comes before PGC1.
All infos about this you can find in older threads in this forum

The most common reason you would get that error is if you have more chapters (or cells) in the newly created file than the original.

JOJOLINO is right - in that if you created a multiple PGC VTS out of order, the result could be a PGC area that is too small.

IFOUpdate takes the information from your newly authored file and writes it into the same area from the original. In your case it was discovered that the original area is smaller than the new one...

When I check the new ifo and original ifo,I found that I have less chapters (and cells) in the newly created file than the original.
Does the error happen too?
would you please check the attach file(include new and original ifo) for me?Thanks!

No. It's okay to have less, you just can't have more.

I'm confused. I just did an IFOUpdate from the New to the Original (from the files you provided) with no problem.

Are you sure you haven't reversed the source/destination paths?

 How come???
Original ifo path = ...\VTS_01_0.ifo.orginal(130K)
Authored ifo path = ...\VTS_01_0.ifo.new(86K)
am I right?

The picture shows where it abored.
And I use default options.

You're right, but one thing I noticed is that you shouldn't have the "Maestro Multiple PGCs" option clicked for a source that was authored in Scenarist. That would make you lose the first PGC. But that still shouldn't cause that error.

I ran it again with the setting incorrectly set -- and it updated fine (but threw away the first PGC, which just happens to have the movie in it).

Try resetting this flag and see how it works.

When I change mode to "standard" it still shows the same error and aborted.(pic:ifo1.jpg)

What is incorrectly set?Does it mean uncheck the "autocorrect" option or use the "cell only mode"?
I've tried to uncheck the "autocorrect" and the error is the same.
I've tried to the "cell only mode" and it shows like pic ifo2.jpg.
which one is right?

Last, does the different OS(I use Win2000) cause the error?
(You can IFOUpdate from the New to the Original with "standard" mode but I can't.)

I don't know what to say. I can't reproduce your problem. It works for me using the IFO files you provided. The resulting IFO file is attached.

The "source to destination mismatch" you highlighted above is just a warning and is to be expected because the chapter count in the new and original files don't match.

Though you can't reproduce my problem,I still thank you.
And I'm very impressed with you quick reply.

Sorry, one more question!
I use ifoedit to check the resulting IFO you attached,I found it's just the same as the authored ifo I gave you.
There is no menu unit in it.

Sorry, I zipped the wrong one. Attached is the correct file.

Ohh!!! I just noticed the text in the last message on the screen that you got a message that could only appear if you have the "Copy Cells" checked. That option shouldn't be on -- but rather you should be using "Standard" mode. "Copy Cells" was included as an option for a unique request from one of the forum members.
