This may be a dumb question but I figured I may as well ask. I know applying labels to DVD-Rs can cause problems but what about writing on media with a Sharpie? Is there any chance the ink can bleed through and ruin the disc? I am using cheap media and haven't had any problems yet but am a little paranoid. If I hold the disc up to a light source I can actually see right through it. The discs I am using have a light purple writing side and a silver top. Any input would b great. Thanks!

If its something really important like a home movie that you don't want to lose. put it on a brand name DVD-R like Pioneer or Apple and don't write on the disk or put a label on it, write on the cd cover.

If its just some dumb movie you're backing up, then go ahead and use the sharpie. I do all the time...so far, none of my movies have gone bad...i also have used a sharpie on tons of cd-r's and its very rare that any of those go bad just from sitting around in my cd case.

if youre that paranoid, use a sharpie and write on the inner core of the dvdr, where it's clear. ive been doing that, no problems.
