View Full Version : Ritek's?

I ordered Ritek DVD-r's from AllMediaOutlet.com, based on recommendations from many people on this forum. They arrived today. The part number for them was: DVD-R/4.7/GENNP. Does anyone know if these are indeed the Ritek's? There are no markings on them, which makes me think they are just generic like the other crap I have. Also, ADVDinfo doesn't work with my burner, so if anyone has the Ritek's, just wanted to confirm they are just unmarked discs. Thanks. Guess my next step is to try several and see if any have playback problems.

My Ritek's (I hope!) from hypermicro.com are unmarked except for the following around the edge of the hole: C1-1L16K206248749D05 They are silver on top, with purple dye layer. Hope that helps.

The "TRUE" Ritek G03 are very different from the other DVD-R, the dye color is dark purple, unlike the other one that are light or medium purple.

The only way to know if you have a "true" Ritek is to read it from the dye :) There's no mistake about it :)

When you say read it from the dye, you are referring to thxtof's post that the dye is darker purple? It doesn't say Ritek anywhere, but the dye is definitely darker than my other discs. Guess the most important thing is that they all play without incident. I figure 10 burns and playbacks in a row will be a good test. Always fun. It's always when I think everything is resolved that out of nowhere a disc will pixelate and stop playing. Hopefully I will have better luck with the 25 pack of Ritek's so I can order some more. Thanks for the info.

BTW, can I safely write on these discs with a silver surface?

trekkerj:
why does ADVDInfo not work on your burner? did you chose the correct reading parameter which is "0E - Pre-Recorded Information in Lead-In?"
