I've ripped the whole of Vanilla Sky disc including all menu's and special features and got them all to fit nicely at 4.5Gb after squishing and squashing.

It all plays great in IFOEdit and Power DVD XP, I burnt it on to a DVD+RW disc first as I always do for speed to test it all works on standalone and it did perfectly.

I then burnt it to a DVD-R, starts up fine but when I press the English language button it just sits there, I've done 3 copies on good media that I use all the time, even burnt another movie in case it was the burner, worked fine.

Any ideas anyone?

Hi,
I think it's the Pioneer. I've been finding the same stuff happening! I reskon it's something to do with .bup or .ifo filesizes... Let me know what you think,

I'm gonna try writing it to a DVD-RW and see what happens, I haven't got a clue as I said I've wrote 4 discs of the this film all the same except for the on on DVD+RW.

Looks like it could be what you say about bup or ifo size as it doesn't work on a DVD-RW either. I've wrote it to a DVD+R and it works perfect.

Not eveybody has the option of DVD + and - so it would be nice to find out what the problem is and possibly a solution, I'm gonna poke around a bit with the files.

From what I can tell at the moment it seems to have a problem playing Title 9 chapter 1 which is the first thing to be played after lanuage selection prior to entering the menu, I tried a quick jump over it to go straight to the menu or movie, doesn't like that much.

The saga continues.....

I deleted the pre commands 1 and 2, then made the first pre command

[000000f4] 1.Pre Command (JumpSS VMGM) Jump to VMG PGC: 4
[30 06 00 04 00 c0 00 00 ]

This takes you straight into the menu minus the fancy animation, only problem I can see is that when you select to play the movie it then re-enters the menu with the animation and you have to select play movie again.

If anyone else has got further or got it working better I would'nt mind knowing as I'm not too sure about some of the pre commands.

Okay, forgive my complete ignorance, but how did you do that? I take it that there's a tool you can download...

I had a problem a few weeks ago and I think it was with vanilla, but i am not sure, can't remember.

Problem was there were several VTS...0.vob with a 0 (ZERO) Kb size.
It burned but did not play in my standalone.
I used a 10Kb VTS...0.vob from another movie and redo a GET VTS, then burn and everything was fine.

Is there any 0 KB file on the image ?

Sorry, GET VTS? What's that? Sorry, I've not heard of it - if you could show me where to d/l it. I'll try it this evening (in work at the mo'!)

No, all ifo and bup files are > 18 KB.

I just can't get my head around it at all, come to the conclusion there must be a big difference between DVD+ and DVD- since it works well on +, shame + discs are more expesive only bought some a while back in case I needed them, glad I did now.

I'm assuming that GET VTS = GET VTS SECTORS
