Hi folks,
I'm a little worried that the media I'm buying is the root of (all?) my problems. I'm in Ireland, so stuff is expensive to begin with. Can any of you with a spare moment take a look at this link and tell me which DVD-Rs you'd recommend? Please let me know.

Well, let's see:
DiscPlanet DVD-R: Not a real manufacturer of DVD-R's, probably OEM'ing someones DVD-R's. Avoid 'em unless you know who's disc they really are. See if they can tell you, or run ADVDinfo to discovery who they really are.
Intenso DVD-R: Same as DiscPlanet
DataSafe DVD-R: I've seen good things about them, you may want to do a search on Doom9's forums. I saw that they might be TDKG02 (TDK DVD-R). If so, I'd go with them.
White Label DVD-R: I've seen mixed results. Some users have complained about problems, others swear by them. No clear decision there.
Bulkpaq DVD-R: Similar to White Label. Some people love them, others have had problems.
Sorry I couldn't have been more help, but when companies put their own name on someone else's DVD-R's, its hard to tell them apart. I use RitekG3 and PrimeDisc for my inexpensive media. I've had good luck with Verbatum, TDK, Pioneer and other higher priced, but don't use them because of costs (and sinces Ritek/PrimeDisc work for me, no need).
Happy hunting!

Use ADVinfo tool and the sticky post with list of results from Advinfo along generic name for.
This will allow you to know what is exactly your disk and read posts about that brand.

@Klona: ADVDInfo only works if he buys some of these discs, but as to my understanding of his question, he wants to avoid any gambling, but wants to know which of the mentioned discs he should buy...
