Step 3: Renaming and MPEG-2 trickery

By now you have one .mp2 audio file and one .m1v (VCD) or .m2v (SVCD) file. Rename the .mp2 file to .mpa. So for instance if your merged file was test.mpg you'll get a test.mp2 and test.m2v file and you have to rename test.mp2 to test.mpa. It is imperative that the name before the dot of audio and video files match as cheaper DVD authoring programs (as we're going to use later in this guide) will only load the audio if the name corresponds to one of the video files.

Shouldn't that be "Rename the .m2v file to .mpa":confused:

no, the guide is correct. mp2 and mpa are used for audio, m2v is used for mpeg2 video streams.

if you look at your picture in step 4

it says input AVSEQ01.mp2, should't that be the renamed .mp2 file from step 3?
