View Full Version : what the heck is a .cda file extension for an audio track??

they are the tracks on two audio CD's i got in the PC right now, maybe more.
one i made myself, one bought.
the each track (all in .cda) are only 44bytes :confused:

done a google and Doom9 search with no info returned on it.

i want to copy them to my HDD to play off that and thought i would try ogg for the first time :D

There is only one little use of those files, they let you to click them to start up the associated player.

hmmm, then how can access the actual music tracks on these CD's ??

theres obvious more then 12x 44bytes of info on these CD's :)

i always thought the tracks were in WAV and you just copy them over and play with them with proggies like to WinLame to make mp3's etc etc

well you learn something new everyday....

although i could have sworn i have copied CD's to my hdd before :confused:

PS how do thye manage to 'hide' the actualy music file ?? ( i assume WAV ?!)

they dont hide the music files, its the opposit. microsoft is so nice to let you see the audio tracks ;)
theres no file system on an audio cd, just audio data.
