View Full Version : Out of synch audio using RV9

I'm encoding from an Mpeg 1 file (NTSC VCD format - 352x240, 29.97 fps, 1150 bitrate) to an rmvb file using Helix Producer 9 Basic with the VBR 350k preset. I'm telling it not to resise, and leaving all the other settings as standard.

The problem I'm getting is that the audio goes out of synch (it's in synch to start with, then it starts to be ahead of the video). The audio is perfectly synched in the original file. What I suspect the problem may be (I'm probably wrong about this though) is that since RV9 uses variable frame-rate, the audio is being played at what would be correct for 29.97 fps, but the video is sometimes going slower than this. How do I fix the problem?

Also, the aspect ratio gets screwed up; the original is 4:3 ratio, but the final one is squashed vertically, even though I told it not to do any resizing. Is this because RV9 can only output certain resolutions and it's resizing to the closest one?

Help would be very much appreciated.

Has anyone got any advice on this? I would quite like to be able to use RV9 because the quality is better than anything else at these bitrates for cartoons (Simpsons, Futurama...), but it's no good if it's out of synch and at the wrong aspect ratio.

Help would be very much appreciated.
