Hi all

I wonder if you could help me with this, i´m having problems cutting OGM files, i´ve tried two methods:

with OGGMux setting cut point, it cuts well but the first two seconds of the second file are in black (but with the correct sound)

with OGGCut the same problem, but instead of black it skips everything, no audio and no video, 2 seconds jump.

many weeks ago everything was ok, i have always used last version of tobias, maybe a 993 problem?

My last try was with Cyrius command-line cutter. It was OK but gives me headaches because i dont see where it cuts and i have to try and try...

I mux a divx 5.02 video stream with two ogg sound streams. No subtitules and no chapters; using win98SE; no subs filter instaled (tobias or vobsub), duron procesor.

thank you all! :)

AFAIK, OGGMux & OGGCut are not keyframe accurate yet. So if the cut point doesn't coincide with a keyframe (and since you can only split by size it's a question of - big - luck) the beginning of your 2nd part will play fine only when the player will reach the first keyframe. (Arrgh ! Ugly English :D )
As for Cyrius cutter, I never tried it. But I don't understand what you mean by "I dont see where it cuts" : you can specify the split size or the frame where to cut, no ?

What version of FFDShow are you using. I had a problem using any of the FFDshow filters to play back any of my Divx 5 videos after ffdshow-20020606. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Thank you all for your replys!

inoteb: i think you are right about the keyframe. this is probably the cause of all, cyrius cutter search for keyframe and the second video starts perfectly. What i mean with "i cant see where it cuts" is that i cant see the frame "vissualy", the moment when the movie cuts (there are moments better than others to cut) So, if that is the problem, that means that all the people that cut ogms with oggmux or oggcut lose 2 seconds (till next keyframe). is that true??

Hiro2k: how do you know i use ffdshow? xD i use version 20923, and i´ve never had problems with it.: confused:

I thought you could only using FFDshow to playback Divx5 content. Now Im confused

you can use the DivX (tm) official filters, from www.divx.com, but ffdshow is MUCH better

OK, this I undestand :) BTW it's the same with OGGMux.
Maybe you should try Cyrius' modificated VirtualDub to determine visually the (key)frame number where to cut and then cut at this frame with Cyrius' OGMuxer/OGMCuter.

So, if that is the problem, that means that all the people that cut ogms with oggmux or oggcut lose 2 seconds (till next keyframe). is that true??

I'm afraid yes :( But we're only at the beginning of OggMedia development. Tools will surely improve quickly...
As for me, I'm waiting eagerly a GUI for Cyrius OGMuxer, because I'm lazy and command lines are bugging me :D

PS - I never used ffdshow, but as everybody seems to appreciate it maybe I'll try it. Can it coexist with DivX5 codec (DivX5 to encode, ffdshow to decode...) without any conflict ?

The best combo for me is: divx5 to encode, ffdshow & bsplayer to decode. if you don´t know ffdshow, give it a try NOW ;) it was a great discover to me.
I think the solution you propose (cyrius virtualdub/cyrius command-line cutter) is the best we can do now. I will give it a try :)

I never get any picture using the Div5 decoder. If you read around the forum you will see that many people have problems using Divx5 decoder in OGM. That why i thought that FFDShow is the only decoder that can handle Divx5 content in the OGM. But I have had problems with FFDshow after ffdshow-20020606. Also have you actually checked that Divx5 decoders will work? In ffdshow uncheck divx5 decoding and xvid decoding and tell me what happens. Im interested to know why mine won't work.

mmm truth is that i used ffdshow before starting with OGM, and i thought that both filters (divx5 and ffdshow) were valid.
Now i try unchecking divx5 box from ffdshow configuration, and then the player (bsplayer) open divx5 decoder and ffshow too. Why? ffdshow filters the output (color space) from divx5 decoder.
Then I uncheked all colorspaces from ffdshow configuration, and bsplayer crashes! it seems that you were right about ogm & ffdshow.
Maybe you have uncheked the colorspaces boxes, take a look of it.
Anyway, i´m FAR from being an expert in this matter, i think it would be a good idea a new post from you with this problem, you will have better help than i can give to you ;)

Well, after reading this maybe I'll wait that situation become clearer before trying ffdshow... ;) I don't want to put mess in my codecs and DivX5 decoder works fine for me :p

The Cyrius cutter works quite well - you just need to know the frame number of the keyframe you want to cut at.

Using another application such as VDub, will let you browse by frame (and keyframe).

Generally yes, we need more/better ogg tools.
