From the few DVDs I've demuxed and then imported the video stream into maestro it appears that there's nothing wrong with having a non-zero timecode, in terms of compatibility. Because the timecodes on these DVDs are non-zero and they import fine into maestro and also play fine in my standalone.
The only problem I've had relates to the importing of chapters e.g. if the time code is 01:00:00:00 then the chapter file points must be changed from:
00:00:00:00
00:02:01:06
00:04:56:16
to
01:00:00:00
01:02:01:06
01:04:56:16
which is simple enough to do - I just spent a fews mins writing an excel spreadsheet that'll do it no sweat (even if the timecode is 1:05:20:09 for example).
The newest CCE 2.66 readme says to avoid using a timecode of 00:00:00:00, I don't know why (and have encoded 2 DVDs using it so far without troubles). But there doesn't seem to be a problem using a timecode of 01:00:00:00 (the CCE default) so I think I will.
Please correct me if I'm mistaken. Thanks :)
