Well, I have to add my comment here too. While !!! is more or less a nuisance, ... is a completely legitimate expression, which you will find in written documents or literature as well. It surely doesn't draw attention. I wouldn't consider it a violation of forum rules.

And Mark... take a look at YOUR Doom9 quote...:D

well Mark is talking about using "..." in the title of a thread I think (?) Of course, everyone uses "..." all over the place, I don't think they care about anywhere besides the title of the thread, although I do agree that his wording is a little weird.

Additionally I don't see why ... shouldn't be allowed in a post thread. I have to agree with waldok that !!! shouldn't be allowed, but ... is a common way of writing your sentences on the net

ux-3 I was purely talking about the title and not in the substance of the post.
I was waivering on whether I should say anything, because like I said it's really not like the !!! or ??? that people often do.

To me it all came down with trying to be consistent. If we allow these characters then how can we not allow the others. It probably is perfectly legitimate, but most others will not see it this way.
I could be wrong and believe it or not it does happen.

I will tell you what. I will ask the other mods there opinion and go by what the group decides, not just the DVD2SVCD mods, but all of them including doom9. I honestly don't know now if this is acceptable here or not. Whatever the group decides I will go by from now on. I think that is fair.

I took a quick poll of the moderators and they agree with you that it is perfectly acceptable. I will bow to everyone's judgement and agree that it is fine and in this case I was an idiot.
It was really a misunderstanding on my part. I took it to be close to the same as the other definately banned behavior and it appears that this is not the case. I need to go back to school.

I am man enough to admit when I am wrong and this is the only time I have ever been wrong ;).

Hey, no need to act too much on that thing !
Of course, I didn't mean to start a war here, neither to point Mark as a dictator. No big deal with the "..." stuff, jus wanted to mention that rules are ok, but to a reasonable extent.
You don't need to apologize nor call yourself an idiot for this. You showed your value many times here so please, don't exaggerate now to the other extreme

What makes me smile a bit (Ok I'm a troll on this one) is that you had to ask all other mods about this...Hey, it was only three little dots (that probably very few people had noticed anyway (I didn't myself in the original post)).

And I must admit I've been wrong once or twice in my life too (no, only once, and to be honest, if you look at things....) :D :D

Waldok.

Markrb,
I guess moderating a forum with *lots* of posts at a daily basis is not easy. Things in this forum are running AMAZINGLY well compared to other places I've seen around. If you take things that seriously is mostly because you care about what you are doing for the rest of us.
You are definitely *not* and idiot, but a responsable moderator instead. Bravo!
