As reported in another thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35498 I recently started having problems with the combination Pioneer 104 fw 1.32/Optodiscs.
I earlier burnt about 30 Optodiscs with the same setup with no problems (installing fw 1.32 was the first thing I did after installing the recorder). Went back and looked at the discs with ADVDINFO:
Single discs in jewel cases all burnt and played without problems.
Manufacturer:
.B...@....P..Z..
WX..............
Discs on a 50 spindle have so far produced 5 coasters and 1 working disc.
Manufacturer:
.B...@....P.....
.....LEAD D..ATA
All discs look identical with blue top and light purple recording surface. Purchased from NewEgg.com in late Sep early Oct.
I was getting ready to order the Accu discs from cdrdvdrmedia.com but not so sure anymore as some of their batches seem to be made by the same company that made my Optodisc rubbish batch.
For the ones of you that are in fact burning Accu with Pioneer: Do you have firmware 1.32 and are your disks made by ".....LEAD D..ATA"?
What other cheap media options are there?
Thanks
Fredrik

hi FredrikM. i purchased an accu 100 spindle from cdrdvdmedia.com and havent been having any problems with them. no coasters yet and ive burned about 18 discs or so. they have silver top with purple bottoms. it appears that alot of people have ordered these and have been getting different batches of disks. mine appear to be Princo DVD Pro's based on the info i got from ADVDinfo.

these are actually the first blank dvd discs that i have purchased because i just recently got a dvd burner. i did a little research on media types and alot of people had good results with the accu discs so i went with them. so far so good.

I've ordered ACCUs from CDRDVDMEDIA in a 25 pack. The ADVDINFO came up as LEAD D..ATA
I've burnt 7 of them, all worked perfectly on my Pioneer A04 using firmware 1.32.
I had bought some Optos from Newegg in September. They had the gold surface and came 50 to a spindle. They worked fine with 1.20 but not with 1.32, ADVDINFO identified them as OPTODISC
It seems everything works on Pioneer 1.32 EXCEPT real Optodiscs. I'm not sure why you had trouble with LEAD D..ATA - so far they have worked like a charm.
Anyone Else?

Frustrating, I was thinking your Optodiscs would have been "LEAD D..ATA" too. I just hope my burner isn't at fault since I actually managed to burn one of those discs before I got stuck producing coasters.
Anyway, thanks all for the response and I will now go to place an order on Ritek.

A while ago, I got 25 Optodisc in 25on a spindle with gold surface.
AdvdInfo identified them as VIVASTAR. They are burned ok with same Pioneer A04 with firmware 1.20 and 1.32. They plays well on both my
APEX 703AD and 1200 DVD players.
Recently, I've got same Optodisc with gold surface that came 50 in a spindle from Newegg. They worked perfectly on Pioneer A04 using firmware 1.20 and 1.32. However, the burned DVD-R could not be recogenized by my APEX 703AD DVD player. But they play perfectly on my newer APEX 1200 DVD Player. About 90 DVD-R I burned with same result. AdvdINFO identified them as OPTODISC.
