View Full Version : Huffyuv won't export from Premiere 5.1 turns to snow

Captures with Huffyuv won't xport from Premiere, they turn to snow. Well, the exported file only plays snow. I'm not the only one to experience this. Anyone here know what's up with this?

At 320x240 it plays fine for me. But 640x480 it is garbled. Have you tried opening it in Vdub? It should look fine. But direct show playback at that rez does not seem possible.

It was a 480 x 480 sized file that turned to snow. It did play then it didn't and I couldn't get it back.
No, I never tried to use VDub to view the snow file; I'll try that.

Yep, it played in VDub but the audio was way out of sync, that was a 480 huffyuv capture. It was exported or saved as an avi with Huffyuv as the compressor and it got much bigger; VDub still played it but audio was again out of sync.
It doesn't seem to be a codec that I can use to make SVCDs as they must be edited and trimmed and I don't always use bbMPEG to encode with now that I purchased TMPGEnc.

Did you try exporting it from virtualdub in a different format to see if it was indeed out of synch or if your system could not keep up?

It played just fine outside of VDub so it is my system and not VDub.
I exported as Huffyuv at the same 480 size; why did it increase in size?

I could not say for sure. It's size should not change much going from huffyuv to huffyuv. If at all. How big of a size difference are we talking here?

VDub / capture avi / video / format : ati packed yuv data / compression : Huffyuv / set custon format, 480 x 480 / import into premiere 5.1 / export same size with Huffyuv as the compressor / snow, but the file IS the same size. I don't know why it became a different size earlier. This time it stayed the same size.
Virtual Dub is the only way to play the exported file, it is no good to play as is. I don't know if it'll burn as an SVCD either.

Convert the video and check before you burn. That will be the best indication.
