im getting ready to rip a movie and the movie run time is 1hr and 36mins(96mins).when i load the movie with dvd2svcd is shows it as 2hrs and 2 mins(122mins).why does dvd2svcd show it as 122mins?how can i get it the right movie lenght?

Often times the IFO is just plain wrong. This doesn't matter to DVD2SVCD, but it does to you when calculating the bitrate and disc cutoff. Just leave a few minutes gap around the time that WinDVD or PowerDVD says it is when you play it in it.

Other reasons for the time difference could be that many times credits are not included in the time given for the movie length.

In your case it does seem quite a bit more then normal off.
I would suggest doing rip only and check the files with WinDVD.
It's probably a bad time in the IFO is all.

The time the IFO file says doesn't really matter. I use the same IFO for all capture VHS that I convert, and the time is always 35mins and some-odd seconds. But the captured video can be 3+ hours, it doesn't matter. It all works out in the end, at least for me :)
