I am trying to get the star trek next generation discs onto dvd-r. I do not want to reencode so I will put 2 episodes onto each disc. the way I am doing it is by ripping each episode in smartripper seperately. I demux the audio and video files. then import them into maestro and that works fine, except I would like a menu to choose which episode to play and also want it to go to the menu after each episode is done. Can somebody help me out with this please...

Simply drop a bitmap into the menu editor and then define some translucent buttons on it (you need to make draw these button images on the bitmap before you import the bitmap into the menu, or you will not know where you drew the transparent button fields (when you play back the finished project).

When you have done this, open the "connections" window, and look for the "end action" fields in the top portion of this connections window. When you find (for example) the field named "Startrek Episode 1 - End Action", look at the bottom pane of the connections window and drag "menu 1" (or whatever you named that menu you just created) so that it sits next to the "Startrek Episode 1 - End Action" field above. It's really simple. This is a "quick and dirty" method, just to get you up and running - as you learn Maestro you'll get better at doing a more sophisticated/professional job. Check out this thread:

Get back to me if you have any difficulty, but my instructions should be thorough enough to get you started.

Best of luck! :)

I figured it out thanx to your advice, thank you.
What I did was just open up a picture of the enterprise in paint and drew two buttons onto it, no layers just straight draw onto .bmp then loaded that into maestro and created buttons as per your instructions and set the end points too and bingo, perfect for what I wanted. THANX

I'm glad it worked out ok. Now you can explore dual-layer bitmaps in Photoshop (all in good time...) :)
