Hi,
I know this subject is old....
I have a problem with inaccurate time pointer in ogm files, cos of wrong (or better saying not at the place I would) keyframe when I encode multiple episodesssS....
I know I can add specific keyframes with Gknot and nandub with a .stats file. But when I choose first pass in gknot, it doesn't generate such a file... Is there a fast way to add keyframes without opening nandub?
Or should I do a first pass with nandub and then go back to Gknot?
Sorry if the question was answered 1000 times, I checked the forum first....
In the Help file of GordianKnot such a method is describe but I don't know if it works with divx 5.02...

Thanks

1.) ecf files work afaik only with nandub & divx3.11

2.) ecf files are simple text files with a certain syntax. I cant remember atm what it was for keyframes, but should be able to produce one with gknot to find out.

3.) I don't know much about divx5, so i cant tell if there is some other way to force KFs (eg via stats file like with XViD)

Cheers

Hi-

You can only add keyframes in GKnot using DivX3. You can do it by editing the .ecf file you create, or by adding them in the Stats File Editor Tab under the Key-Frames section and then saving the .ecf file. So, to answer the question, you'll have to open GKnot after the first pass and create an .ecf file and then use it for the second pass encoding.

No such option is available when using DivX5 (actually I'm not positive about that-maybe there's a way to force new keyframes by editing the log file after the first pass). So, when I want to make sure that my episodes are separated (like when encoding anime), I'll rip by chapters to begin with, create .d2v files for each episode, or use Trim commands to encode each episode separately. If burned in subs are involved, perhaps using Trim commands is the best way as you can save youself the trouble of resynching the subs. When done, Append the episodes together in order to add the audio, and then split again.
