Hi i'm very new to this and i've had my dvd-r drive for about 2 months. i've ripped 2 dvd-9s and put them on dvd-5s after stripping them of extras. i've also encoded 2 dvds to avi files on my hard drive using flask mpeg. My next project i would like to undergo is to take the avi (mostly divx) movies/files that i have on my hard drive and encode them to dvd format so that i can watch them on my set top player. i have a guide on how to create menus too so that i make a menu for them. i'm not sure how to go about this or what it is even exactly called. could someone direct me somewhere or explain how to do this because i am very confused at this point. sorry if this has already been said in earlier threads but i wasn't sure what the process was called.thanks again.

I can only recommend you to check the guides on the doom9 homepage. May be you'll find something suited for you.

Basically, you'll have to extract the sound from your AVI. If it's AC3, keep it as is. If it is something else like MP3, convert it to WAV first, then encode it to MP2.
The video will be encoded in MPEG-2 or -1 in a DVD compatible resolution and muxed later with the sound.
