I have a WinTV card (BT878) and use this to capture direct from my cable TV decoder and my VCR.
I use the VFW drivers instead of the WDM ones as they are not very good; blurred image and graphical glithes when there is fast motion on the screen. I tried using DScaler and that improves the image but only to the quality of the VFW ones with the extra CPU overhead.
The major drawback is that with the VFW drivers I can't access the video record menu screen (blue background with text). The screen just freezes when I access it and doesn't update. I don't have this problem with the WDM drivers.
1. Is there a way around this?
2. Are the VFW drivers (Hauppauge 3.11 for Win2K) the best drivers to watch TV and Capture with my WinTV card.
