I've just released Decomb 4.00 at my web site, so I've freed up some development time. I'm working on lots of things and need people to help me prioritise things. Here are some of the things I could work on:

improved Avisynth Smart Bob
improved MSmooth
usable DGdnr (temporal smoother)
low-level optimizations for MSharpen
EE removal filter
enhancements for Dup

So help me out. What do you people really want? What are the Holy Grails in your mind? Feel free to add other possibilities.

Anything as far as smoothing and noise reduction in my opinion, so I put my vote on:

usable DGdnr (temporal smoother)
EE removal filter
low-level optimizations for MSharpen

Thanks for all your hard work!

Hi ,
Like metallikop, in my opinion, noise reduction is one thing to prioritise,
so I put my vote on:

usable DGdnr (temporal smoother) : Great !
improved MSmooth
low-level optimizations for MSharpen

Thanks very much for your work

msmooth! (SShiQ is so slow)
msharpen

I have no idea on the other filters. :)

I'd like to see a native version of SmartBob for AVISynth, preferably one that does the transform from n fps to 2*n fps automatically. It should work just like FieldDeinterlace in terms of parameters. I have tried to create a script that does exactly this, but I have not been satisfied with the results so far. Example:clip=AVISource(clip.avi)
odd=fielddeinterlace(clip,blend=false)
even=fielddeinterlace(clip.complementparity(),blend=false) #also tried swapfields etc.
return interleave(odd,even)I did get this script to work correctly but since I don't like blending I don't consider myself satisfied:clip=AviSource(clip.avi)
fielddeinterlace(clip.separatefields().DoubleWeave())

I vote for :

1/ low-level optimizations for MSharpen
2/ improved MSmooth

Thanks Donald

MSmooth and DGdnr will be a “must have”, excellent combination of filters. Great work. Thanks.. Great work. Thanks.

I'm always in search for a better and faster noise filter and deinterlace filters.

My vote would be.

improved MSmooth
usable DGdnr (temporal smoother)
EE removal filter
low-level optimizations for MSharpen
(maybe increased optimization for decomb 4.00)

Thanks Donald!

Maybe you remember my suggestion on Dup...
It should be able to detect parts of a frame that have not changed from one to another and copy them over. In the helpfile for it you state that Dup works on 32*32 blocks anyway, so I think it might be easy to implement.

what's dgnr?

Thanks

DGdnr = Donald Graft's dynamic noise reducer. I've decided that putting initials at the start of all filter names avoids namespace collisions. :)

Hi there Donald.

Just like to add my appreciation for all your work - some things would just be imposible to do without your filters!

All the suggestions for your work look interesting and very worthy things but my vote goes for 'low level optimisations of MSHARPEN', this is purely because i use it for every one of my captures atm.

Thanks again.

Heh...I feel the urge to be a dick and request something completely unrelated:devil:: a directshow implementation of telecide().decimate() which I can insert into DVD filter graphs so I can watch anime DVDs without feeling the urge to put my head through the monitor.:D

Unlikely as that is, I'll vote for enhancements to Dup.

OK, thanks gals and guys, I'm going to work on MSharpen optimization and Dup enhancements in the short term.

/me wonders what happened to msmooth??? :confused:

If I count the no of request for msmooth and the ranking, I'm sure msmooth is one of the top 2 requets. :)

@jarthel

Please note the qualifier "short-term". These are things that can be done relatively easily. I haven't forgotten about MSmooth. It is going to require a sustained and intense attack and I haven't yet developed the requisite drive for it. I need a little rest after getting Decomb 4.00 out. :)

... and well deserved it is :)

I just knew you're going to say that Donald. :) Well those DGdnr and msharpen are good filter I guess.

Can you add SSE2 optimizations if possible? Thank you. :)
